Currently one of the leading global manufacturers of Synthetic Iron Oxides the group was founded by Mr Terence Yu following an amalgamation of four international iron oxide companies and has since grown through both acquisition and diversification to be a truly leading global colour company.

Iron Oxide is our traditional core business with either wholly owned or joint venture factories spread across the Zhejiang and Shanghai areas as well as in Shenzhen. A new manufacturing plant situated in Wuxi was commissioned in 2008, increasing production capacity to about 80,000 metric tonnes per year.

The Cathay Group is also a leading manufacturer of the Highest Purity Iron Oxide Pigment, suitable for industries such as Pharmaceutical, Cosmetic and Food as well as other high technology industries, with our High Purity Oxide plant situated in Valparaiso Indiana USA.

The Group manufactures synthetic regulated food colours and our subsidiaries blend and market both synthetic and natural food colours in a variety of forms to meet market requirements.

Organic Pigments and Dyestuffs are manufactured through joint ventures, toll manufacturing and technological agreements spread throughout Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hebei, and Shenyang provinces, whilst the group has state-of-the-art plants manufacturing Pigment Dispersions in Jia Ding (Shanghai Province) and Shekou (Shenzhen)

The groups wholly owned subsidiary "Compass Chemical International" is the only full-line manufacturer of phosphonates in the USA, and this coupled with raw materials from associated JV companies has facilitated the growth of this business in regional Asia Pacific as well.

We are now selling our own products and affiliated products all over the world with divisional offices located in the United States of America, United Kingdom, Belgium, Spain, Australia, South Africa, China, Hong Kong and other SEA countries.
